Army Red, also known as Army XI, is one of the football teams that represents the Indian Army. The club actively participates in the prestigious Durand Cup and various regional tournaments.
In 2016, Army Red briefly competed in the top division of the Calcutta Football League. Recently, in June 2023, the club was placed in Group I after the Indian Football Association (IFA) announced the merger of Premier Division A and B of the Calcutta Football League ahead of its 125th edition.
The Durand Cup is the oldest football tournament in Asia and the third oldest football tournament in the world. In 1888, the tournament started off as an Army Cup open only to the British Indian Army troops in India but soon it opened up to civilian teams.
