Football Club Goa, known as the Gaurs, is a leading Indian professional football club based in Margao, Goa. Competing in the Indian Super League (ISL), the top tier of Indian football, the club was founded on 26 August 2014. Their home matches are played at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao.

Under the guidance of Brazilian coach Zico, FC Goa had notable marquee players during its early seasons, including French winger Robert Pires and Brazilian defender Lúcio. In their debut season, they finished in the second position in the league stage but narrowly lost to Atlético de Kolkata in the semi-finals via a penalty shootout after a goalless draw. In the subsequent season, FC Goa topped the league stage but faced a heart-breaking 3–2 loss to Chennaiyin FC in the final.

The 2018–19 season saw them reach the final again, but this time they were defeated 1–0 by Bengaluru FC. However, FC Goa secured their first national trophy by winning the 2019 Indian Super Cup, defeating Chennaiyin FC 2–1.

During the 2019–20 season, FC Goa achieved remarkable success by topping the league stage and claiming the first-ever ISL League Winners Shield. This triumph granted them direct qualification for the AFC Champions League group stage.

The club underwent a significant change in its appearance, transitioning from blue shirts and shorts to an orange color scheme in 2018, which has been retained ever since. FC Goa has built a strong reputation as a competitive and skilled team in Indian football, winning the hearts of fans and leaving a mark of excellence in the sport.
