Jamshedpur FC

Jamshedpur Football Club is a prominent Indian professional football club based in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Competing in the Indian Super League (ISL), the top tier of Indian football, the club made its debut during the 2017–18 season. Notably, Jamshedpur FC stands as the sole club in the top flight to possess self-owned stadium and training facilities. Owned and managed by Tata Steel, the club has quickly made a mark in the Indian football scene.

Established on 12 June 2017, Tata Steel secured the bidding rights for one of the two expansion slots in the Indian Super League, paving the way for Jamshedpur FC. The team’s success was evident when they claimed the ISL League Winners’ Shield during the 2021–22 season.

During the bidding process for new teams, Jamshedpur FC emerged as one of the selected cities, and Tata Steel officially won the bid on 12 June 2017. Subsequently, on 14 July 2017, it was announced that Steve Coppell would be the inaugural head coach for the newly formed club. The club’s name, Jamshedpur FC, and logo were unveiled on 23 July, just ahead of the 2017–18 ISL Players Draft. During the draft, Jamshedpur FC had the privilege of the first pick, selecting India international Anas Edathodika as their inaugural player. Since then, Jamshedpur FC has continued to grow and establish its presence in the Indian football landscape.
