Barely 6 minutes into the match, a heavy tackle by JFC goalkeeper Amrit Gope results in a penalty for Quess East Bengal and Jaime Santos Colado makes no mistake in netting it. QEB take an early lead. A few seconds of celebration, Colado strikes again and crowd goes berserk. In the 12th minute, Colado suffers from a contortion due to a tackle and is substituted by Boithang Haokip. Football in the ‘City of Joy’ has not witnessed such a brilliant cameo in recent times.

QEB did not stop here. Pintu Mahata, a recent transfer from the arch-rivals Mohun Bagan, scored in the 32nd minute. At half time, the scoreboard show 3-0 in favour of Quess East Bengal.

A young, relatively inexperienced side from Jamshedpur FC could not stand in front of the Kolkata team, as QEB tore through their defence. Bidyashagar Singh scored twice, in the 75th and 79th minute. Colado set the mood of the match by scoring early. His substitute Boithang Haokip scored the final goal for QEB at 90+2’, giving the club a mammoth 6-0 victory.

Jamshedpur FC saw two yellow cards, Amrit Gope at the 5th minute and Baset Hansdah at the 62nd minute while the sole card for QEB came at the 88th minute with Prakash Sarkar being at the receiving end.

Jamshedpur FC will be playing against Army Red on August 9 at Kalyani Stadium while Quess East Bengal face off against Bengaluru FC on August 14 at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
