Mumbai City FC was formed in August 2014 and is a club competing in the Indian Super League. As the club is fondly known, the Islanders is the only team in India to have won the unique ‘double’, winning the ISL Shield and the ISL Cup in the 2020-21 season. Mumbai City FC, two-time winners of the ISL League Shield and the ISL Cup, won the titles for the second time in 2022-23 and 2023-24, respectively. In Asia, Mumbai City FC competed in the 2022 AFC Champions League, where it finished second in Group B and became the first Indian club to register wins in the continent’s premier club competition. The Islanders also participated in the 2023-24 AFC Champions League. Originally owned by Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and businessman Bimal Parekh, City Football Group acquired a majority stake in Mumbai City FC in November 2019. The team joined the likes of Manchester City FC, New York City FC, Melbourne City FC and others in the CFG family. Mumbai City FC plays home games at the Mumbai Football Arena in Andheri, Mumbai. The club’s crest houses key elements representing the city of Mumbai and reflects the dynamic, relentless and modern values defining Mumbai City FC.
